About the Livonia Blue Jays Cheer Program
​
The Livonia Blue Jays Cheer Program is a part of the Livonia Junior Athletics League (LJAL) consisting on four Livonia Units (Blue Jays, Falcons, Orioles, and Eagles). These units are divided by residency in Livonia. If you are unsure of what unit you belong to, or would like to review the unit boundaries, please visit the LJAL website HERE.
The LJAL organizes its Cheer and Football program teams by the grade your child will be in for the upcoming year. Looking ahead for the 2026 season, it will be for the school year of 2026-2027. All four units begin at their youngest level at 1st Grade.
Our teams are divided by the following grades:

Flag: 1st - 2nd
-
Freshman: 3rd - 4th
-
Junior Varsity: 5th - 6th
-
Varsity: 7th - 8th
The cheer season runs from August through early November, including playoffs. This is a sideline cheer program, meaning cheerleaders support the football team at weekly games and do not regularly compete. The season concludes with an optional—but highly encouraged—end-of-season competition called Cheerfest.
Looking Ahead to the 2026 Season

Veteran Family Registration
Registration for returning families will open early- mid February.
​
To qualify for veteran status, families must have completed the 2025 season in good standing, including:

Fulfilling all volunteer requirements

Paying all fees
-
Returning all equipment

​Items needed at the time of registration:

Proof of residency or school enrollment
-
Electronic copy of birth certificate for each athlete (to be uploaded during registration completion)

Registration fees only (Credit Cards only)
Every athlete will need a sports physical dated on or after April 15, 2025. This will be turned into your directors at camp or can be uploaded into sports engine by going into your registration profile. Stay tuned for more information.

New Athlete Interest Forms
Interest forms for new athletes joining the 2026 Football and Cheer programs will open in early March. Please watch for communications beginning in February.

If you are interested in joining the Football and Cheer program as a Director, Coach, or Key Volunteer, please email footballcheer@ljal.com with your interest and preferred unit. A member of the LJAL team will be in touch.
Interested in Becoming a Junior Coach for the Blue Jays?
We’re excited to introduce our new Junior Coach interest process!

If you’re passionate about cheer/pom and ready to take the next step into leadership, here’s how to get started:

✨ Fill out the Junior Coach Interest Form
✨ Create and perform an 8-count of your choice
✨ Submit your video — our directors will review and will reach out to the applicants
This process helps us get to know your creativity, skills, and enthusiasm. Please know junior coaching positions are limited and not all applicants will be offered a spot on the coaching staff.
All interest forms must be completed by Friday, January 23 to be considered.
